‘Room 037’ Blood Orange
Creative & Art Direction, Photo & Graphic Design
‘Room 037’ by Blood Orange is a fictitious anniversary album that narrates the personal evolution, the search of the identity and the self-space of the artist through a compilation of 14 songs, that he has composed throughout his career as Blood Orange.  It’s an exploration into his own: It’s a tension at the heart of identity: how to identify with a community larger. It talks about the transition of life from the displaced perspective of an intellectual who sees himself in the spaces between male and female, black and white, gay and straight, foreign and indigenous. A guy who can’t find a margin to call home. But where finally Hynes feels most at home though is not a specific geographical locale, but more of a state of mind. ‘I live in my head a lot, the surroundings aren’t particularly that important. It is all about to find a place or a state where you feel comfortable and call it home’.
